HAITIAN GOVERNMENT INVOLVEMENT

A RESTRICTION IN THE RESEARCH

Understanding the situation between the two nations of Hispaniola could be expanded upon with the addition of Haitian news sources on the government response to the conflict and deportations. Using the American Google does not provide many helpful sources with information on their current relations with the Dominican Republic one because there is not as much coverage on a small impoverished country; secondly, finding sources through the Haitian Google would provide sources in Creole.
These two limitations in my research leave me with a specific silencing of the issue at hand where the dominant narratives given by the "superior" powers hide a marginalized voice that deserves to be heard.

AMERICAN NEWS ON HAITIAN GOVERNMENT

In my research, this is the only article I found that explains some relations between the two countries on the island. The article was published by Atlanta Black Star, which is a narrative company that publishes stories with the goal of enlightening others. The article, by Jasmine Nelson, explains the "bilateral agreement" between the Haitian and Dominican presidents in 2015 regarding their tensions stemming from the citizenship policy changes. This was briefly mentioned before Nelson explained their discussion on trade agreements. There is very little information on the reaction from the Haitian side of the conflict and we are left with the general statistics regarding who is left stateless and who was able to gain their papers just as every other article has stated.
